The immensely popular K-pop group BTS will soon be coming to Fortnite. Epic Games announced that Fortnite will be hosting the world premier of BTS’s new choreography music video for the song “Dynamite.” This is just the latest media crossover for Fortnite, which has previously hosted movie events and music artists such as Young Thug, Diplo and, most recently, Anderson Paak. The BTS x Fortnite collaboration is set to kick off this Friday at 5pm Pacific Time.
2. Microsoft Bethesda Update In response to the gaming community’s understandable concern regarding Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media, Xbox head Phil Spencer has released a statement explaining Microsoft’s plans with the company. In an interview with CNBC, Spencer said quite bluntly, “ZeniMax has an amazing track record of building great games. Our plan is to leave it alone.” While this doesn’t address the possibility of Bethesda games becoming Xbox exclusives, it should help quell the worry that Microsoft might micromanage Bethesda and “ruin” the company in the process.
3. Blizzcon 2021 Blizzcon 2021 has officially been announced. Typically held in Anaheim, California, the 2021 edition of Blizzard’s annual convention will instead be an online-only event and is being dubbed by the company as “BlizzConline.” Not many details about the event have been announced yet, but it’s reasonable to assume that it will consist of the usual news and hype-building around Blizzard’s most popular franchises such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Hearthstone, and Diablo. Blizzcon 2021 is set to take place as a 2-day event on February 19 and February 20.
4. Destiny 2: Beyond Light Bungie has released a new trailer showing off some of the huge upcoming expansion for Destiny 2, Beyond Light. With plenty of new locations to explore on Jupiter’s moon Europa, Beyond Light is expected to delve into the origins and culture of the Exo, a robotic species of humanoid machines. Beyond Light is set to arrive on November 10; you can check out the trailer for the expansion below.
5. The Division 2 Free Weekend The Division 2 will soon be kicking off another free weekend. Not only is this good news for players who are interested in the looter-shooter but have yet to try it out, it’s also good news for players who already own the game as the free weekend will include access to the Warlords of New York expansion. Any progress you make over the course of the free weekend will be saved to your main account should you purchase the game, and any progress you’ve made during previous free weekends will carry over to this upcoming free play period.
