Your thoughts on PVP

Is it just me or has PVP become a P2P/P2W type of mode now that the devs released Ignition? It seems to me very unbalanced as of late. I was just wondering what others think about PVP now.

With the right setup, maintaining 50 wins is very doable, especially if events like para-dice reward a more active pvp experience. Ever since the change from percentage wins over 100 games to what we have now, I haven't had to stress about it.

If you're trying for ranked rewards, that's whale territory and that's always been the case since the beginning. More than just maxing out Childs, they're also purchasing massive amounts of refreshes and tickets to maintain position. Nothing we can do about other people's purchases; all we can do is play in a way to minimize their impact and maximize our own during pvp.

I personally focus on Stun and Petrify (Change and Moa) to lock out attackers and then crit them to death with Pantheon/preferred attacker. That's leaves a fifth member to do whatever you want: N. Mona for buffs and DoT removal/vamp, Isolde/F. Sytry for better action economy/nullify buffs, Neptune for speed and healing, Bathory for consistent DoT and debuffs, Banshee for Sleep, whatever your preferred play style is.

Ignition teams seem focused around hitting you as hard and as fast as possible and the higher DPS ignition provides means waiting for fever is a pipe dream. Just lock out their attackers and hit them faster.

Yeah... That's great advice for those that can do the manual play. But what about those of us with arthritis and and can ONLY use the auto function?

Have to agree with you on the 50 wins comment. Imagine if Ignition was rolled out when you had to fight 100 times in Plat V, fuck.

I've found it alright so far but I can't imagine how difficult it is for newer players to maintain Gold and above anymore.

Ever since I started seeing a flood of red stars in Platinum V, i stopped trying anymore.

What made Devil Rumble hell is the fact that they only introduced Ignition for water Childs that used to be meta. I'm not sure if this was intentionally done to weed out the Bathorys who took top meta after Eve, but I think it's utter BS that they did this. I am conserving resources to Ignite Courtesan Bathory when they open it up for her, but in doing so I've been forced out of Platinum rank now.

I'm having the urgency forced down my throat to keep up with the rat race, but I think at this point I'm just going to put my guns away and bid my time doing PvE things.

F2P must P2F (Play to Flexibility)
    Good luck!
Target : stay at Platimun League V

    nice wallet team

  • Gramamanamanees LV.19 Sage Dec 22, 2020, 11:00 PM

We got enough materials to fully ignite a unit during the anniversary event. As for the uncaps, most long term players have dana/chang'e/pantheon at +6 from before the pool expansion and the rest come with crystal management. Mafdet isn't even +6.

You just sound like a salty whiner when you point to a perfectly attainable team and assume it costs money.

  • Aric J. Peabody LV.10 Nomad Dec 22, 2020, 05:17 AM

It's always been like that. It's just 'win more' now.

  • NELIEL LV.23 Bamboozled Dec 22, 2020, 05:37 AM

not really. before ignition I had very little trouble maintaining p5

  • Aric J. Peabody LV.10 Nomad Dec 22, 2020, 07:03 AM

Must have been at it for quite awhile. I'm fairly new and have had trouble maintaining minimum gold lvl. Now it's impossible when every team has at least one fully ignited child.

  • Gramamanamanees LV.19 Sage Dec 22, 2020, 12:39 PM

If you're new why would you expect to maintain parity with people who have been playing the game for a while?

  • Aric J. Peabody LV.10 Nomad Dec 23, 2020, 01:33 AM

I said fairly new... As in about 6 or 7 months.

  • Gramamanamanees LV.19 Sage Dec 23, 2020, 03:45 AM

The game is 2 years old at this point. The reality is that paying money will get you to powerful units faster, but time will get you to the same status eventually.

If this is widespread, maybe they should have released a new pvp tier - titanium or something. That way people won't feel as if they've 'lost' progress. Additionally, if your experience is common, this means in general platinum players are being kicked down into gold, which will kick gold players down to silver and so on...which will yield a reduction in the weekly pvp crystals.

I don't do pvp beyond the weekly crystals, (so this means full auto and that's it) I'm still hovering around gold 1. Though I think I was a bit higher a few weeks ago, like gold 3 or something, but maybe I am mistaken.

Most of the time I get one shot killed no matter what child I use vs water mafdet and all of the teams I face have her at +6 full ignition(best stats) and SSS (best stats). This days i have to use altleast 200-300 crystals just to get the daily 10 wins and getting 55 wins till the end of the week is a challenge for me. F2P here.

    Snippets of thoughts.

I'm so glad I've decided to only auto-play pvp since forever.
I'm getting wiped out by "UNKNOWN" people in 40 seconds, the power ratings of 215k vs my 128k on the border of plat 4 and 5.

Am I supposed to become envious and join the rat race of ignition? I was only in plat 5 because the game splurged lots of (ugly) wood Sytry copies in my sporadic HoR rolls.

I'm not impressed with latest new music, visuals and stories, that's what's important.

4-star child with stun on slide made me speechless.

If you see every feature in this game as a step on a ladder then ignition is another one you have to climb in order to reach the ceiling.

The game isn't any more P2W now than it was before. Payers could always reach the top instantly, but ignition is an especially hard to reach step when you're not paying so the time when you'll be able to keep up or compete with them will come much slower than before.

    toxic much?

  • Lintaur LV.16 Sage Dec 23, 2020, 08:49 AM

This is why I don't give a shiz about pvp. I focus purely on ragna/world boss stuff. Much easier to throw a team on auto and collect whatever rewards I get at the end of the pvp season while actually focusing on stuff that matters to me.

  • Aeon LV.4 Lurker Dec 23, 2020, 01:02 PM

Not as enjoyable as it used to be. I'm having to reroll a lot of my options on gear to reduce dmg and recover hp on slide skills now because of how easy it is to die from Eve/Mafdet slide. I'm finding it real difficult to climb ranks, but I did just max ignition Tiamat so hopefully she'll be able to carry me through a lot of it.

Overall it's a lot more bland because it's only water childs and new childs that can be ignited right now. Hopefully when the other elements get theirs we'll have greater diversity in teams and 80% won't be either Eve/Mafdet.
